Introduction

It’s been a while. The last time I posted something was May of last year, and it’s already a whole new year later. I just wanted to do a new introduction to my website hence I’ve been gone for too long. My last About Me was posted in 2017 if you want to go ahead and give it a read. My name is Monica and I am now twenty four years old. I graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science in June of 2018.

I’ve always had a passion for taking photos of anything and everything ever since I could hold a camera. It wasn’t until about sophomore year in college that I started to take photos of my planner and began my Instagram account and is forever in debt to the planner community for giving me the platform. I started to grow out of planning in my Kate Spade Wellesley planner around the beginning of my senior year in college. My brother had bought me the A5 Dotted Journal by Scribbles That Matter for Christmas since I told him I wanted to dabble into Bullet Journaling because of Amanda Rach Lee on Youtube. I started to take photos of my inspiration BUJO layout from Amanda and also curated my own style of decorating and been using my BUJO ever since.

Around that time, I also started to really get into K-Beauty so I would shoot pictures of my products, hauls, and BUJO on my Instagram account. I guess because of that, a Korean skincare brand reached out to me and wanted to collaborate with me (product in an exchange for an honest review). I remember calling my boyfriend in tears of joy telling him that a brand wanted to work with me. I guess because of the opportunity one brand gave me, it opened the doors to a variety of opportunities for me to work with brands. I’ve been a content creator on Instagram since September 2018.

I’m grateful to every brand that I got a chance to work with and to the brands that I haven’t got to work with, watch out I’m coming for you (just kidding), that is where my Instagram and Website took off. I worked part-time during that time and became full-time for a bit and than later realized that the retail job I had at the time wasn’t meant for me so I left. A few months later, I joined a retail company I love to work at because of the work culture, the coworkers, and the managers. Currently, still working there as a part-time employee while juggling being content creator full-time. I love what I do and look forward to what I do when it comes to being a content creator.

This blog will be a creative outlet for me to express my thoughts and feelings on anything and everything. I would probably post about Korean skincare product reviews, Chinese dramas that I just finished watching, my mental health, my relationship with my longtime boyfriend, books I’m reading, restaurants that I’m enjoying, outfits that I put together when I’m out, and so much more. Please hold me accountable by commenting, emailing, and/or DM me on Instagram. If you’ll love to see those type of content feel free to stay tune. Thank you, for taking your time to read this updated Introduction that was long overdue years ago.

Sincerely,

Monica

Review: Afterday A Better Day Mango Sheet Mask

This is the last of my Afterday A Better Day series that I’ve tried from them. The consistency and essence of the mask is similar to their previous masks I’ve tried from them. However, this mango scent is definitely an artificial smell of a mango not the real thing. It kind of reminds me of mango hi-chew if you ever had that candy if not, you should definitely try it. It’s pretty much an asian version of a starburst with unique flavors though! Anyways, I left this mask on for about twenty minutes before removing it off of my face. I like that the essence didn’t drip down to my neck or anything as long as you don’t press in the mask to hard onto your skin. It definitely, a hydrating mask though. I rubbed in the excess serum into my face and let it sit to absorb. In conclusion, these masks are great and affordable if you want to try them!

Review: Alba Botanica Fast Fix Sheet Mask Coconut Water Hydrate Hypo-Allergenic

I haven’t been posting sheet mask reviews because quite honestly, I haven’t done a sheet mask in a long time. I need to get back to my double fisting game. Tonight, I decided to test out this sheet mask that my friend kindly gifted me for my birthday. When I took it out of the packaging it was heavily drenched in coconut water. It’s a nice thin paper sheet mask. It was very easy to unfold and place on the face. It smells like a nice light scented coconut not to overpowering or anything. The sheet mask claims to hydrate the skin. You do feel some tingling which made me want to take off the sheet mask at first but it claims that if it’s tingling the sheet mask is working which was quite interesting. I left it on for about fifteen minutes before removing the mask. It definitely moisturized my face. It didn’t leave a sticky residue either which was nice and I rubbed in the excess serum into my skin and let it absorb. Overall, great sheet mask.

Monthly Empties: February 2019

❤ – like, 🙄 – eh, & 👎🏻 – dislike

1 & 2. Yes to Coconut Hydrate & Restore Ultra Hydrating Micellar Cleansing Water & Yes to Cotton Protects & Minimize Irritation Comforting Micellar Cleansing Water, both I love to use especially in the morning as my pre cleanse before moving onto with my cleanser and sometimes when I’m really lazy to use a cleanser I just use this in place of my cleanser. Both are super hydrating micellar water that I personally use with a cotton pad to sweep across my face like I would when using a toner. They come in other scent with targeted areas for the skin as well. Definitely, will be repurchasing. ❤

3. Mario Badescu Skincare Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs and Rosewater, I’ve had this for like a year and a half or something before finishing up the bottle which is amazing! I love this facial spray and I love how it’s so multipurpose like I use this after a hot shower, when I’m feeling hot, when I need some sort of spray to wake myself up a bit, and before and after makeup as a setting spray. I love that it comes with so much product at an affordable price too. They have other scented sprays as well that you can try out and my most favorite scent from them is the facial spray with aloe, cucumber, and green tea one. I’ve already repurchased one of a different scent. ❤

4. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, is the most incredible lip sleeping mask I’ve ever tried and only one to be honest. I mostly use it as a lip balm too and carry it around with me wherever I go just because I love how moisturized it makes my lip feel. I love the berry scent! I got this with one of the Sephora gift set I got awhile ago, so this was a deluxe sample size but I’ve already repurchased in the full size although it’s quite pricey it’s definitely worth it in my opinion, a little goes a long way. ❤

5. iUNIK Tea Tree Relief Serum, a super smooth and relaxing serum for the skin after essence of course. It doesn’t really have a scent and it makes the skin feel super smooth and non irritant when I use it. I love that it honestly, faded some of my acne scar with continue use. It is really moisturizing and also brightens up the skin complexion. I definitely will repurchase once I finish up my other serums that I have but it is an amazing product and it lasted for such a long time when I use this as my morning serum and night serum. ❤

6. Skinfood Black Sugar Strawberry Mask Wash Off, the last out of the three sugar mask I’ve tried from them. I heard they came out with a Honey and Coconut scented one awhile ago so definitely have to pick those up once I finish up my other exfoliators I have in my skincare drawer. I love that it smells like fresh strawberry an artificial scent but still smells wonderful and leaves the skin feeling super smooth after using. I definitely use these mask wash off as an exfoliator but you could also use it as a mask! If it’s a bit harsh pro tip is to add a little bit of water and it won’t be too abrasive on the skin. ❤

Review: Afterday A Better Day Olive Sheet Mask

I got back around 4pm after training and it was just a long day watching lots of videos about the company and doing interactive quizzes for awhile but tomorrow will be on the job training so I’m excited for that. I started my nighttime routine using this sheet mask to moisturize my skin and calm it since I was super stress/nervous this morning but things turned out to be fine but that’s anxiety for you… sometimes you just stress to an extent for nothing basically. This mask was drenched in essence that it was dripping as I was taking it out of the packaging. Same paper cloth sheet material which adheres to the skin super well so I love it, and I feel like it fits to my face almost perfectly which made it even more comfortable and exciting to wear. This scent smelled good but I’m not really sure what an olive is suppose to smell like personally… so let me know if any of you tried this out and it smells like Olive. I left this sheet mask on for about twenty minutes before removing it off of my face. I patted in the excess essence and let it sit and absorb for a bit. I noticed that it hydrated my skin and left it dewy and the great thing about this mask is that it doesn’t leave any weird residue after using this.

Review: Afterday A Better Day Green Tea Sheet Mask

I woke up this morning feeling excited/nervous at the same time. It’s been awhile since I’ve had that feeling. I’ve been applying to jobs after jobs that have to due with my career but no luck yet, so instead of sitting around and waiting I decided to apply to other jobs outside of my career as well. I got interviewed and accepted into a retail store and start training as of today. Anyways, I woke up and did my normal morning skincare routine and decided to use this sheet mask since green tea alway smells good and you can never really get a sheet mask that doesn’t smell somewhat to green tea. This mask was heavily drenched in essence as well as it was dripping everywhere while I was unraveling it. It’s the same paper cloth material sheet mask as well. This mask claims to be balancing and help with wrinkles so we’ll see if it lives up to it’s claim. I left this sheet mask on for about twenty minutes before taking it off. I patted in the excess essence and I could tell that it was very hydrating and soothing on the skin. I’m not sure about the wrinkles… I think I’ll have to keep using this sheet mask a couple times to tell if it does anything for the skin. It definitely balanced out my skin tone though and left my skin dewy.

Review: Afterday A Better Day Açaí Berry Sheet Mask

For the nighttime skincare routine I’m using this firming and healthy skin sheet mask in the scent Acai Berry and it smells so good and pretty accurate like other Acai Berry masks I’ve tried in the past. It’s the same paper cloth material and was heavily drenched in essence. It was very cooling and moisturizing on the skin too. I left this mask on for about twenty minutes before taking it off. I patted the excess essence into my skin and let it sit and absorb for a bit. It left no sticky residue like most fruit sheet masks I’ve tried. It left my skin glowing and hydrated. My skin did feel a bit firming as well so it matches up to it’s claims.

Review: Afterday A Better Day Egg Sheet Mask

I woke up early and did my usual morning skincare before applying this sheet mask onto my face. This scent smells good but definitely not an egg scent ha. It was heavily drenched in essence that once applied to the face, it dripped down my neck a couple of times since it had a lot of excess essence. Same paper cloth sheet mask as the previous two masks I’ve used from this line and same claims as the previous one. I left this sheet mask on my face for about twenty minutes before removing it. It definitely moisturized my dry patches and left a dewy look on the skin. It didn’t take long for it to absorb into my skin after patting the essence. It didn’t leave any sticky residue or anything either.

Review: Afterday A Better Day Bamboo Sheet Mask

During, my nighttime skincare routine I used the Bamboo sheet mask. It claims to be moisturizing and firming sheet mask. Same paper cloth sheet mask that is heavily drenched in essence and smells artificial but it’s a pleasant scent. It was very cooling on the skin but it could also be the cold rainy day weather here in the PNW. I left this sheet mask on for about twenty minutes before removing it. I rubbed the excess essence into my skin and let it sit and absorb. It did not leave any sticky residue or anything which is always a plus, cause some mask tends to leave a residue. It left my skin feeling super smooth and hydrated. I feel like it lives up to it’s claim since I did feel my skin tightening a bit but also moisturized.

Review: Afterday A Better Day Avocado Sheet Mask

I woke up this morning feeling bleh, anyone else out there that have those days? Where you just wake up and feel so unmotivated and things aren’t going your way? I guess today, is one of those days for me. Anyways, I did however got up and did my morning skincare routine. I decided to test out this sheet mask line called Afterday, A Better Day Avocado Sheet Mask. The packaging is aesthetically pleasing though, just look at how clean and everything is about the packaging. It’s a paper sheet mask and it was heavily drenched in essence but the scent did not smell like avocados to me. It’s a very mild scent so it doesn’t bother me. It claims to be moisturizing and enriching on the skin. I left this sheet mask on for about twenty minutes before removing it off of my face. I rubbed in the excess essence and honestly, it lives up to it’s claim with no sticky residue or anything.
